The Regimental Band is known for its winning record in competitive parades, and each year the seniors who lead the Band try to include at least one major parade on the Band's calendar. In recent years the Band has participated in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City, the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Savannah, Georgia, the Mardi Gras Parade in New Orleans, the 2010 Virginia Governor's Inaugural Parade, and the 2004 Presidential Inaugural Parade. In addition to these major events, the Band performs for local Veteran's Day events and local Christmas parades as time permits.
In addition to parade performances, the Band conducts the majority of the pre-game shows for Virginia Tech's home football games in Lane Stadium, conducts at least one halftime show, and shares in the half time show at the Virginia Tech Homecoming game. The Highty-Tighties also represent the university at selected away football games. The Band has numerous performances posted to YouTube that you may wish to explore.
As a regimental band, we provide the musical component for all formal military parades that the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets conducts. Most of these events fall on Saturdays, and we would be glad to have you visit with us at Virginia Tech and attend one of the military parades as you explore the university.
